Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dealer very helfull This product is easy to use and powerful. Can't wait to buy more of their products.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from You will spend more money on cord line Their proprietary cord line is weak and you will go through it 4x as fast. The initial cartridge lasted about 3 weeks and I already have to replace it. Now I already have to purchase a new "cartridge" because you cannot replace the line yourself with your own line. You will spend much more on this trimmer than you realize. I do not recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Reliable Product I have gone to battery powered equipment and love the Stihl products because they are lighter to carry around than some other brands. The battery has good life but I would suggest that you buy an extra battery so you can keep cutting. Also, the battery charger turns off when the battery is fully charged. It is easy to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great home owner model I have several other Stihl gas trimmers that I love but my wife wanted something light she can get in and around her flowers and bushes, this was the perfect solution. Light weight, no vibration, no engine noise, takes down milkweed ,cockles, etc.... in 15 minutes I was using I never felt a loss of power! Also I only had to send out string once in 15 minutes, take it slow into the big stuff and it takes it out just fine. Love this thing!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not a fan I love the Stihl batteryblowers and had high hope for this trimmer. However, the battery doesn’t last as long as it is claimed to, the head of the trimmer is designed so it is difficult to trim around farm fencing and the power isn’t enough to successfully trim wire fencing. I should have just stuck with my Stihl gas trimmer. This one was a real disappointment.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Extremely disappointed. I have been a Stihl fan for over 30 years and currently own 9 other pieces of your equipment for use around my home and farm. I have a FS81 weedeater, but it is too heavy and difficult to start for my wife to use. So twenty days ago, I bought her this FSA 56, because it is light and easy to use, just like she wants. It certainly doesn't have the power I'm used to, but is about what I expected, being battery driven. However, after charging it overnight, the first time she used it, the battery only lasted about 15 minutes. It was an extremely hot day, so I thought it may have just overheated. But I recharged it two more times and each time it still only lasted about the same length of time, before the battery was done. Now, however, trying to charge it the fourth time since we bought it, it won't even take a charge. We either have a defective battery or charger, but wither way, obviously, it is completely useless to us. And, I don't have her help with the weedweating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So easy to use My wife was looking for a quality lightweight trimmer that is easy to use. She had had a cheap rechargeable in the past that she was not satisfied with and quit using. We have had this Stihl FSA 56 trimmer for 1 month. She and I found this trimmer very easy to use. I'm not sure of distances, but we do some heavier than normal trimming and the battery lasts approx. 30-40 minutes. My only complaint is the line may be a little thin. When you get against stone or concrete, the line has snapped fairly easily. The battery is easy to insert and quickly recharges in under an hour. I would get one of the larger models for heavy use, but for typical yard trimming, it has been great.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Battery life very short even with AK20 battery. The FSA 56. Super light, electric is quiet, starts right up, enough power to cut grass. I did a solid trim of my yard with my gas trimmer this spring. 30 minutes. Great. The AK20 will last 34 minutes. I'm in. Except, the AK20 battery with the FSA 56 lasts 22 minutes in my repeated experience. No option for a bigger battery. I can't finish the job in one go. Extendable shaft is amazing for tall people. Would be great for a townhouse.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Starts first try Bought it because I am tired of gas trimmers. It doesn't have quite the power of gas but it has everything else. Ready to go at all times. Plenty of run time for my needs. Would buy again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Low Power - Bad Line very low power and the pre loaded string cassettes don't last long either, maybe this would be good for a townhouse with a 10' long flower bed and a mailbox post to trim around.Run time isn't the issue, power when running is the downside. Expensive pre-loaded cassettes are annoying too..It is great to just turn it on with a switch and its much quieter than a gas one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Satisfied with Product I have to buy pre-wrapped trimmer spools when the line is exhausted. Had I known this when I bought the FSA 56, I would not have purchased it. I hope you are developing a spool that I can re-wind with trimmer line. If not, then you need to accomplish this task soon. This would solve a lot of problems.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Durable, lightweight, battery lacking. Overall quality is great, and it's a very lightweight tool that handles moderate duty use. The smaller battery that comes with this tool hasn't lived up to the claimed performance. A larger or extra battery is really needed for anything bigger then an average yard.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from easy to handle I bought this trimmer about two months ago and was a little skeptical about how a battery trimmer would preform. I must say that its awesome ! its light weight and now my wife can do some trimming. If you buy one you will not regret it.
Date published: 2018-05-12
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Trimmer line is expensive It seems that the line tends to break off inside the head. The spool has a cheap retainer that makes it harder to rethread. Nowhere do you see that it should be discarded. Even the Stiehl instructions on you tube don’t tell you to discard it. Every Stihl video and the manual say nothing about the retainer on the spool. I finally found some instructions on replacing the string on the spool. Seems that there should be more help in the manual. Not what I expected from Stihl

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Idea, needs more Battery life. This trimmer would get 5 stars if the battery lasted more then 15 minutes. Sold to me by a large retail store as having at least 40 minutes of charge. It performs really well and is able to handle a light work load. But it seems to always run out of charge just short of finishing. If you have a very small yard with 15 minutes worth of weed eating I would recommend the product. It is light weight and easy to handle.Larger land owners should probably pass or buy 3 extra batteries.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good light use trimmer Better power than the competition battery trimmers. Just be aware this is really designed for light homeowner use. I have several STIHL gas trimmers that I use for the real work. This is good for a very small yard and basic grass trimming. If you have a bigger job in mind, better to upgrade to a heavier duty model. I purchased this because I needed the battery convenience for a small routine trimming job (about 10 min a week). So far, it’s doing what I asked for that purpose.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product is expensive junk This weed eater is for someone who has a 10x10 yard. It gets tangled often. I have gas trimmer, gas blower and chain saws all stili products which l’ m vey satisfied Proberly used 45 minutes and now it just takes up space. Will sell for 1/2 price any suckers.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from An expensive toy. This is by far the worst Stihl product I have ever bought. I have Stihl chainsaws and gas trimmers and a blower with which I am very happy but this is a toy. Cutting swath is very small, battery doesn't last and for some reason the string will suddenly come completely out. Have not been able to go more than 5-10 minutes before restringing or recharging. Pretty much sits in the garage now. Primary reason for purchase was because my wife has a hard time starting gas tools. This was not the answer.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fair Not really a good weed trimmer, First time using it line snapped off. Had to open it up rethread it through slots. Doesnt seem to cut really well, have to go over same spot couple of time to get a good cut. Heard really great storie on tv about Stihl, not too impressed.Mark Dunca

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor Trimmer Line and Spool I cannot make it through one spool of trimmer line without the line getting tangled up or broken quickly. This happens within 2 minutes of trying to edge my lawn on dirt and grass only. I've had this trimmer for about 5 months and wish I could get my money back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What was I waiting for Bought this for my mother-in-law in trade for her old gas Stihl. I tried it out, beat my expectations! The weight is amazing. No noise or smoke! Makes edging enjoyable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The trimmer has great power Have some tough grass to trim and my FSA56 cut right through it. Really like the features, the ease of having the battery instead of having to crank. Highly recommend Stihl products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very easy to use Love the new battery options from Stihl. Very light weight. Easy on the back. Trimmer can do both my front and back yards on a single charge. It actually has more than half the charge left when I finish. Can then use the battery in the blower to clear off clipping.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Did not expect to break down that easily I bought it just 7 months ago. The line tangled around the axis. It kept working for the next three trimmings and then froze up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great find I bought this for myself because my husband has a stihl gas trimmer but it is too heavy and long for me. This is very light and does the job well. It also telescopes so I can make it short . He tried it and since he is tall extended it all the way out and it was long enough for him. Very happy now. Thanks b&b outdoors

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poor replacement string . Love the 56 nice trimmer, But replacement spools are way to expensive 19.95 for 3 pk, for the amount of trim string on them they can not even last 1 charge. Spool is not built well enough to re string bump button wears off with in several uses. My gas Stihl I can trim a tank and a 1/2 or 2 on one full spool thats like several hours of trimming. Please address this in future model's.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Trimmer line keeps getting tangled inside and around head. This was my first purchase of a Stihl product. Prior to purchasing the Stihl FSA 56 I had used competitors' gas powered weed whackers for decades. These machines gave me no trouble. With the Stihl FSA 56 I already have had to have to head replaced due to damage caused by the trimmer line repetitively getting tangled. This product is only 5 months old having been purchased 5-22-2017.I would like to return the Stihl FSA 56 for a full refund of my purchase price.David (Lisle, IL)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Like trimmer but line problem Liked trimmer but line life is really poor. It seems to work well near curbing and bushes. When used on a chain link fence it breaks non stop even when being as careful as possible. Have been using Shil products for years. Have always like higher quality products. My final solution was to buy multiple heads and preload them ahead of time. This keeps you working, and they can be refilled When time allows. The 8' length of line goes away too quickly. I hope this helps someone searching for a solution. Still go through a lot of line.
